Terms & Conditions

Last updated: February 2026

1. Rental Requirements

To rent a motorcycle from El Gringo's Rentals Tamarindo, you must:

  • Present a valid passport at the time of pickup.
  • Hold a valid motorcycle license or endorsement from your home country. An International Driving Permit (IDP) alone is not sufficient — you must also carry your original license.
  • Pay a refundable damage deposit of $500 USD per vehicle rented.
  • Be renting the motorcycle for your own use. If you wish to rent for someone else, please contact us directly.

2. Reservations & Deposits

A reservation deposit of 50% of the total rental cost is required to confirm your booking. The deposit can be paid via credit card or PayPal.

We strongly recommend reserving in advance as we are frequently fully booked 2–3 weeks ahead, especially during high season (November 1 – March 15).

3. Cancellation Policy

  • More than 30 days before pickup: Full refund of the reservation deposit.
  • Less than 30 days before pickup: The reservation deposit is non-refundable, non-transferable, and dates cannot be changed.

4. Pricing & Payments

All rental fees displayed are all-inclusive. There are no extra costs at the time of vehicle pickup. We accept US Dollars and Costa Rican Colones. Credit card payments are processed via PayPal.

There are no refunds for early returns.

5. Rental Period

The minimum rental period is 48 hours. We occasionally accept 24-hour rentals but cannot guarantee availability. Pickup and return times are between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

For same-day reservations, please contact us directly by phone or WhatsApp.

6. Pickup & Return

All pickups and returns are by appointment only at our location in Huacas, Guanacaste. Please contact us to schedule an appointment before visiting.

Delivery to your hotel may be available upon request, but cannot be guaranteed, especially during high season.

7. Vehicle Use

  • The motorcycle must remain within Costa Rica at all times. Cross-border travel is strictly prohibited.
  • There is no kilometer restriction. However, for less experienced riders we recommend staying within the Tamarindo/Guanacaste area.
  • If you travel outside the recommended zone, you assume full responsibility for any mechanical issues, flat tires, or breakdowns.
  • The renter is responsible for the vehicle at all times during the rental period.

8. Damage & Liability

The $500 damage deposit is held for the duration of the rental and refunded upon return of the vehicle in good condition. Any damage to the vehicle during the rental period is the responsibility of the renter.

9. Equipment

One or two helmets are provided free of charge as required. Reflective straps are also provided as required by Costa Rican law. No additional riding gear is provided.
